Drinkwell

I purchased a Drinkwell fountain for my cats. They seems to be terrified of the unknown object, but I hope they get use to it soon. The only concerns are; 1. It often makes weird noise and needs adjustment. 2. Needs to be cleaned weekly.

    I loved the huge close up of his face you had posted eons ago too.

    I used to make loud slurpy noises everytime i saw my kitty drinking from her bowl. She’d stop and look around and sometimes her tongue would still be hanging out. I’m sure i found this to be much funnier than she did.

  2. I have one too and its amazing! It took the cats about two days to get used to it…and now they sit by it all the time. I think they’re comforted by the humming sound. If it starts to make louder noises, just tap it near the motor. Also, I don’t clean mine except every other month - and you don’t have to buy their expensive filters…just use an aquarium charcoal filter. Its the same thing.

  3. I just came across your blog and was facinated by this cat water fountain. I have been searching for something like this. I travel alot and it would be great for my kitty’s to have clean water all the time. Can I ask where ever did you find it?

  7. ok, here’s my 2 cents on this. I have a similar fountain that has a huge water capacity (for all 13 cats-some are rescue, I’m not totaly crazy) I got mine from a great place called revivalanimal.com they have different sizes and are VERY reasonably priced. I buy tons from this website.
    I also have some cats that will just sit and stare at the water and others that like to play in the water. They are great cuz it’s good for the cats to drink lots of water for their urinary tract.

  8. Thanks for letting me know where to pick one up. I went out today and picked one up. Scrappy, my scared of everything cat, keeps looking at it like it is going to attack her. My other one, Cassie, is slurping away. I am sure Scrappy will get the courage by the end of the night.

  11. I have the exact same fountain for my cat, and she loves it. She used to sit in the bathtub and meow at the tap, or cry by the sink, but now that I have the fountain, she leaves the bathroom fixtures alone ;0) I only clean mine about every month or so, whenever most convenient. I also scrub the filter, and it lasts for quite a while, considering how bad LA water is. My cat is now so in love with the fountain, I have to take it with her when we travel, or she has a fit. Yeah, I spoil her waaaaay too much. Oh, and I find if it makes a weird noise, I just adjust the flow — make it less, turn it to the left — the noise is lessened. And I also have the reserve tank you can hook on the back, which is nice in the summer and the water evaporates a bit. Hurray! ;0)

  12. jannie-it’s hard to keep up with them all. I come home some days and the house is a wreck! They have way too much fun. They have 5 cat trees which save your furniture big time. All my cats have claws the trees help them with their natural urge to scratch and claw. 5 of the cats I have are from the ferrel rescue I did. There were a total of 12 kittens and the 2 moms. So 13 is not as bad it was. I may have a home for 1 more!! YEAH!! It helps that I am VERY involved in the cat world too. I placed a couple at the cat shows.
    If anyone has an over weight cat…let me know. There is a great food out there that my cat lost 9lbs on….yes 9lbs. He started out at 32lbs and is down to 23lbs.
