If Your Cat Tasted Like Chocolate, Would You Eat Her?

Filed under: general — Miyoko @ 9:49 am

I love animals.
I do support a few animal rights group.
But not them, not PET@.

Since I go to some vegan restaurants occasionally, I started reading more about this animal rights group. Something to do while I’m waiting for my food, just because their brochure are there. First encounter with them was 7 years ago. I was desperate to find a dress for a wedding, because I just moved and had no idea where to shop. They yelled at me for going into a department store, because they sell fur.

Yes, I do own fur and I’ve eaten live fish, so I know they don’t want me to be a part of them. My point is they are just too extreme.

They are craving for celebrity spokesperson, and they don’t even mention about the fact that she owns numbers of Louis Vuitton purses.

There’s no reason to scare people.
Respect!

  1. Some of these animal rights folks are nuts! We (hubby & I) filled out an application to adopt a new cat. I was too honest. Denied our app because we allow our cats to go outside. And she gave me a list of reasons why we shouldn’t let our cats outside. So we went to the animal shelter and took home a great three year old male cat.
It really is hard to listen to people like that! Have a great weekend…

  2. Diana—
I’m really glad to hear that you adopted a cat! I did mine 7 years ago.
People can save animals without being tacky.

  3. There is a big difference between wearing fur and leather. When you buy/wear fur, it means that animals were raised and killed just for their pelts. Sometimes they are skinned alive. Disgusting. In the case of leather, most likely, the cows have already been killed for food and they use the leather for purses, shoes, etc. While I wear leather, I am totally against fur. Think about how different it is.

Diana - those people were right to deny you. If you allow your cat to go outside, then you shouldn’t be upset if it gets hit by a car or someone does something horrible to it just because they felt like it. I love cats and have always owned them but no cat of mine has ever been allowed outside. I could never subject a poor innocent cat to whatever may happen to it outside.

  4. I understand you feel they are extreme and they are from time to time. But unless people see what goes on and how these animals do suffer, some people won’t care.. others will do something. It almost has to be put to the extreme for people to notice. The really sad part is that in almost all circumstances where animals are involved, be it farming etc, they suffer. The suffer horribly for their fur. We live in a messed up world!

    >for food and they use the leather for purses…
According to PETA, leather in America is almost all imported from foreign countries, and one of the top leather producers is India. They are killing cows for leather, not meat. So, wearing leather is as bad as wearing fur, believe or not!

    Donna—
Yes, some campaigns has to be put to the extreme for people to notice, but it could be put in more intelligent, otherwise it just turn off people. As for fur, PETA’s campaign seems to be working, because I see Juicy is using faux-fur instead of rabbit fur this season.

  6. Thanks for letting me know that Miyoko, I had no idea. But I thought the cow was sacred in India? I will definitely do my research before opening up my mouth next time. I still stand by my fur comments, it really is horrible what they do to those poor furry little animals. :(
