Haven’t seen the inside of a zing zing (italian slang word) sea urchin in a very long time. Growing up in San Diego,as a kid we would go down to the beach area. Adult friends and family would dive for these and eat them right on the beach. I remember my parents and grandparents eating these beauties. I like your design better then the real thing. Wink!

I’ve seen sea urchins but never the inside and I did NOT know people ate them. Diana, did your family cook them before eating them?! I pretty much would try anything new, but I just don’t get these. Is the black the roe?

No, they didn’t cook them. They eat them raw. My dad told me they were eating the eggs????

Thanks, Diana. Yea, the roe are the eggs. They sort of look like caviar which I adore!! Miyoko’s art is perfect for the subject.
